June 11, 2025 | Jolo, Sulu — A man was arrested by personnel of the Jolo Municipal Police Station after he was caught carrying an unlicensed firearm at a police checkpoint in Barangay Bus-Bus, Jolo, Sulu on Tuesday, June 11.

According to police reports, the suspect was flagged down while riding a white and black XRM 125 motorcycle. Authorities noticed he was carrying a firearm as he passed through the checkpoint. When asked to present documentation, the suspect failed to show a license for the weapon.

Seized from him were one unit of ARMSCOR Cal. 45 pistol with serial number BB03879-09-246, one magazine assembly, six rounds of Cal. 45 ammunition, and a black holster.

The suspect, along with the confiscated items, is now under the custody of the Jolo MPS for further investigation and filing of appropriate charges.

The arrest was made as part of the intensified anti-criminality campaign of the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), in line with the directive of PNP Chief Police General Nicolas D. Torre III to curb illegal activities through proactive police response and regular checkpoint operations.

The suspect is facing charges for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and the COMELEC Gun Ban, which was in effect from January 12 to June 11, 2025, in connection with the recently concluded elections.
