Malungon, Sarangani — June 4, 2025 — A tragic accident claimed the lives of three family members early Wednesday morning after their car collided with a trailer truck in Barangay Talus, Malungon, Sarangani.

The victims, identified by Malungon MDRRMO Operations Chief Arnel Pinque, were Abdulmajid Sarapudin, 35, a security guard; his wife Ivy Lou, 33; and their 3-year-old daughter, Coleen. All were residents of Barangay Labangal, General Santos City.

According to Pinque, the family was on their way to Davao City aboard a Mitsubishi Mirage when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle after hitting a gap between the asphalt and cement on the road. The car spun out of control and veered into the opposite lane, where it was struck by a trailer truck headed toward General Santos City.

The impact was so severe that the victims were pinned inside the mangled vehicle, making the retrieval of their bodies extremely difficult. All three were declared dead on the spot.

The driver of the trailer truck surrendered voluntarily to the Malungon Municipal Police Station following the incident.

A Strong Reminder to All Motorists

This heartbreaking accident serves as a painful reminder of the importance of road safety. Drivers are urged to stay alert and extra cautious at all times, especially during long drives and early morning travel. Always ensure that your vehicle is in good running condition, tires are properly inflated, brakes are working, and lights are functional.

Equally important, drivers must remain fully focused on the road, avoiding distractions and adjusting to road conditions to prevent losing control.
