Two suspected drug personalities, both considered high-value targets, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations conducted by law enforcement authorities on May 5 and 6 in Cagayan de Oro City.
In a joint operation by Police Station 8 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10), authorities apprehended a 26-year-old suspect known by the alias “Choychoy” in Purok 3, Barangay Dansolihon. The suspect, a resident of the area, was reportedly a top priority on the PDEA’s city-level watchlist and listed in the Philippine National Police’s regional-level watchlist under COPLAN ALBAYO.
Recovered from the suspect were a Php 500 bill used in the operation, a pack of Winston-brand cigarettes, and approximately 25 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 170,000. The suspect is now under the custody of Police Station 8, while the confiscated items were submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
In a separate operation, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU-10) arrested another high-value target, a 29-year-old male identified only as “Janmel,” in Barangay Camaman-an. Janmel, a resident of Zone 4, Pasil, Kauswagan, had reportedly been previously incarcerated for similar drug offenses.
Seized during the operation were around 65 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of Php 442,000, a sling bag, a Tecno Spark Android phone, and a Php 1,000 bill used as marked money. The suspect is currently detained at the Maharlika Detention Cell of COCPO. The recovered evidence was also turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for further examination.
In total, authorities confiscated approximately 90 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of Php 612,000.
Both suspects will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) Regional Director PBGen Jaysen C. De Guzman praised the operatives for their continued dedication to the government’s anti-drug campaign.
