TUNGAWAN, Zamboanga Sibugay — Two motorists were shot dead by unidentified gunmen while reportedly on their way home in the Tigpalay area of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, on the evening of September 9, 2026.
Initial information reaching local sources said the two victims, identified only by their aliases “Jhong” and “Dong,” had reportedly gone out to fish using an electric fishing method. They were allegedly heading home when they were attacked by unidentified suspects.
The shooting reportedly occurred at around 9 p.m. The two victims sustained gunshot wounds and were killed in the incident. Initial accounts indicated that the assailants immediately fled after the shooting.
Information circulating among relatives and community members described the victims as relatives, reportedly an uncle and his nephew, and both were said to be relatively young. Relatives, friends and other community members expressed grief over the deaths, with condolences pouring in for the Duran and Eden families.
The remains of one of the victims were reportedly brought to his family in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, with information indicating that the body was being taken to the area behind Palawan Pawnshop along the route toward Ipil.
