A 19-year-old Grade 12 student was killed in a shooting incident in Purok 1, Barangay Dungguan, M’lang, Cotabato, at around 5:30 p.m. on September 22, 2026.
The victim was identified as Ridwan Beda Manampen, 19, single, and a student taking lessons in English and Arabic.
According to information from his family, they were unaware of any involvement by Manampen in illegal or other unlawful activities. His relatives described him as a student who was frequently at school and also helped look after his younger siblings.
The family said Manampen was particularly involved in helping care for his younger brothers and sisters while his mother was working abroad.
His father is reportedly an Ustadz who teaches Arabic, while his mother is currently overseas.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Police authorities are working to establish the identity of the gunman, determine the motive behind the attack, and establish the events that led to the killing.
Authorities have yet to publicly identify a suspect or provide a confirmed motive as the investigation continues.
