ILIGAN CITY, Philippines – A 51-year-old woman remains in critical condition after she was allegedly attacked by four men while working on her farm in Barangay Digkilaan, Iligan City, in what police are investigating as a possible case of frustrated murder.

The violent assault occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. on August 4, 2026, in Purok 14, Diodiongan, Barangay Digkilaan.
According to initial reports, the victim, a farmer and resident of Barangay Digkilaan, was tending to her farmland when she was suddenly confronted by four male suspects.
Witness accounts and the victim’s statement indicated that two of the attackers allegedly restrained her by grabbing her legs while the four suspects repeatedly beat her using pieces of wood and large stones. The victim claimed the attackers appeared determined to kill her during the assault.
She sustained multiple serious injuries from the brutal beating before the assailants fled the scene.
The victim was immediately rushed to Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH) at around 1:10 p.m., where she remains under medical care. Reports described her condition as critical due to the severity of the injuries she suffered.
Police have launched an intensive investigation and a hot pursuit operation to identify and arrest the four suspects, who remain at large.
Authorities are also working to determine the motive behind the attack, as investigators continue to gather statements and evidence from witnesses and the victim’s family.
The victim’s family has expressed their determination to pursue legal action against those responsible for the assault.
According to police, frustrated murder is the most likely criminal charge that may be filed against the suspects, considering the brutality of the attack and the apparent intent to end the victim’s life.
As of this writing, law enforcement authorities continue their manhunt for the suspects while urging anyone with information that could lead to their arrest to coordinate with the nearest police station.
