LAGONGLONG, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body of a man found lying face down along the coastline of Barangay Dampil in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental, on Friday morning, August 28, 2026.

The unidentified body was discovered along the shoreline of Purok 5, Barangay Dampil, prompting personnel of the Lagonglong Municipal Police Station to conduct an initial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Alvin Galendez, investigator of the Lagonglong Municipal Police Station, said their initial inquiry established that the man had reportedly been seen in the town center of Lagonglong the previous day.
According to Galendez, the man was reportedly drinking alcohol and walking around the town center on Thursday. By Friday morning, however, he was found lifeless and lying face down near the shoreline.
Authorities have yet to determine how the man died. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body, including the possibility of determining how and when the man reached the coastline.
Police described the deceased as a male believed to be between 28 and 35 years old, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall. He was wearing a white polo shirt and had an earring on his left ear.
The body has since been brought to Ranas Funeral Home in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, where it remains pending identification and further procedures.
Police Appeal for Identification
The Lagonglong Municipal Police Station is appealing to residents and the public, particularly those who may have recently reported a missing family member, to help establish the identity of the deceased.
Police urged anyone who recognizes the physical description or has information that could help identify the man to immediately coordinate with the Lagonglong police station.
Authorities emphasized the importance of verifying the identity through proper procedures before any conclusion is made regarding the deceased.
Meanwhile, some netizens have claimed that the man may be from Igpit, Opol, Misamis Oriental, and have circulated the name “Danny.” However, this information has not been officially confirmed by authorities as of this report.
Police have yet to publicly establish whether the deceased is indeed the person being referred to by the name circulating online.
The identity of the man, as well as the exact cause and circumstances of his death, remains under investigation.
Authorities are encouraging the public to avoid relying solely on social media posts and instead provide any potentially relevant information directly to the Lagonglong Municipal Police Station so investigators can properly verify the details.
