KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Police have launched an intensive investigation and hot pursuit operation following a daring armed robbery that left a married couple traumatized after two armed suspects allegedly stole ₱585,000 from them in Barangay Sto. Niño, Koronadal City, late Sunday night, July 26, 2026.
The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m., when the victims, identified only by their aliases “Kevin,” 38, and “Camill,” 35, both residents of Barangay Sto. Niño, were riding a tricycle when they were suddenly intercepted by two unidentified men.
According to the initial police investigation, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and threatened the couple. Before taking the money, the suspects reportedly fired shots at the victims, creating panic during the attack. Fortunately, no injuries were immediately reported.
The armed men then forcibly seized the bag belonging to alias “Camill,” which contained ₱585,000 in cash, before fleeing toward an undetermined direction.
The Koronadal City Police Station immediately responded to the incident and has since initiated a hot pursuit operation to track down the perpetrators.
Investigators said a significant development emerged after alias “Kevin” positively identified one of the suspects, known only by the alias “Ron.”
Based on this identification, police are now preparing the appropriate criminal charges to be filed against the identified suspect before the Office of the City Prosecutor.
Authorities are also continuing efforts to identify and arrest the second suspect while working to recover the stolen cash.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could help in the investigation to coordinate with the Koronadal City Police Station as authorities intensify operations against the suspects.
The investigation remains ongoing.
