MARAMAG, Bukidnon — A 55-year-old security guard was found dead while on duty in the municipality of Maramag, Bukidnon, on Friday afternoon, June 19, with authorities initially believing that a heart attack caused his death.

According to the initial investigation conducted by the Maramag Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victim was discovered lying face down while still wearing his official security guard uniform at his assigned workplace.
Police said the security guard reported for duty at around 5:30 a.m. on the day of the incident. However, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a co-worker found him unresponsive and already lifeless.
Investigators immediately responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary assessment. Authorities found no indications of foul play or external injuries that would suggest the involvement of another person in the victim’s death.
Further information gathered by police revealed that the victim had a history of heart disease. His wife informed investigators that he had recently been hospitalized in May 2026 due to his medical condition, strengthening the possibility that he may have suffered a fatal cardiac episode while performing his duties.
The victim’s remains were subsequently transported to Bukidnon Provincial Hospital (BPH) in Maramag for medical examination to help determine the exact cause of death.
The sudden passing of the security guard has saddened his family, colleagues, and members of the community, who described the incident as a tragic loss.
Despite the absence of signs pointing to foul play, the Maramag MPS said it continues to conduct a thorough investigation to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that no other factors contributed to the victim’s death.
Authorities are awaiting the results of the medical examination, which could provide further confirmation regarding the suspected heart attack that claimed the life of the security guard while faithfully carrying out his responsibilities.
