MARAMAG, Bukidnon — Fear and outrage gripped residents of Barangay San Roque in Maramag, Bukidnon after a minor girl was allegedly abducted from inside her own home and brutally assaulted by an unidentified man in the early hours of May 27, 2026.
According to initial accounts gathered from the family and neighbors, the disturbing incident happened around 2:00 a.m. in Purok 1 while the child was sleeping inside their house.
Based on the victim’s statement relayed by relatives and concerned residents, an unidentified male suspect allegedly entered their home, covered the child’s mouth to prevent her from screaming, and forcibly dragged her outside.
The suspect then reportedly brought the victim to a nearby palm oil plantation area where the child was allegedly mauled and repeatedly slammed to the ground until she lost consciousness.
When the victim regained consciousness, she reportedly saw only the bright headlights of a motorcycle as the suspect fled the area.
The child sustained bruises and injuries on different parts of her body, including a visible bite mark on her cheek. Family members also reported that the victim has been suffering from severe weakness, repeated vomiting, bleeding, body pain, and extreme psychological trauma following the attack.
According to relatives, the child remains emotionally distressed and traumatized, often staring blankly and struggling to respond properly to questions due to the horrifying experience.
The victim was immediately brought to a hospital for medical examination and treatment while the family formally reported the incident to the Maramag Municipal Police Station.
A social media post by concerned resident Flores Kris, who identified the victim as their minor neighbor, further intensified public concern after details of the alleged assault circulated online.
Residents expressed alarm over reports that the suspect may specifically be targeting children and minors, prompting renewed calls for heightened community vigilance and stricter nighttime security measures.
Parents in the area have also been urged to closely monitor their children and ensure that homes are secured, especially during nighttime hours.
Authorities have yet to identify the suspect, but police said an ongoing investigation and manhunt operation are underway to determine the perpetrator’s identity and hold him accountable under the law.
As of this writing, investigators are continuing to gather evidence and testimonies related to the incident.
