MAGSAYSAY, Misamis Oriental — Four remaining members of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to government authorities in Barangay Kibungsod, Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental on May 30, signaling another development in the government’s intensified counterinsurgency and reintegration efforts in Northern Mindanao.

The surrenderers were identified only through their aliases “Omba,” “Kitcha,” “Suna,” and “Poday.”
Alongside their surrender, the former rebels also turned over four improvised firearms and several rounds of ammunition. Recovered weapons included one improvised 7.62 mm firearm and three improvised 12-gauge shotguns with corresponding ammunition.
According to police authorities, the surrender was the result of sustained coordination, dialogue, and intelligence-driven operations conducted by personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB-10) in partnership with other law enforcement and intelligence units operating in the region.
Authorities said the collaborative efforts focused on encouraging remaining members of armed groups to peacefully return to the fold of the law through government reintegration initiatives and localized peace engagements.
The four former CTG members are now under government custody for custodial debriefing and profiling as part of the standard process for their formal return to society and possible enrollment in government assistance and rehabilitation programs.
Security officials emphasized that the surrender highlights the continuing impact of intensified peace and security campaigns aimed at dismantling insurgent networks and restoring stability in conflict-affected communities.
The police and military also renewed their call for other remaining members of armed groups to surrender peacefully and take advantage of government programs designed to help former rebels rebuild their lives through livelihood assistance, social support, and reintegration opportunities.
Authorities have yet to disclose whether the surrenderers were connected to specific insurgent activities in the province, but officials described the development as a positive step toward strengthening peace and security efforts in Misamis Oriental and neighboring areas.
