MAKILALA, Cotabato — A healthy baby boy was rescued after being found abandoned and crying inside a multicab in Barangay Concepcion, Makilala, Cotabato late at night, alarming residents and authorities alike.

According to reports, the infant was first discovered by a store owner who was startled after hearing persistent cries coming from a parked multicab near the area. Upon checking the vehicle, the resident was shocked to find a baby boy left alone inside, wrapped only in thin clothing and already shivering from the cold.
The concerned residents immediately rescued the child and reported the incident to local authorities. Due to the quick response of the community, the infant was promptly brought to the Makilala Rural Health Unit (RHU) for immediate medical evaluation and treatment.
Medical personnel confirmed that the baby was in stable and healthy condition despite the traumatic circumstances surrounding his abandonment. The infant is currently under the care and protection of the RHU while coordination is ongoing with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWD).
Authorities have already launched an investigation to identify the irresponsible parents or individuals who abandoned the child. Local police are currently reviewing possible CCTV footage from nearby establishments and surrounding areas in Barangay Concepcion to gather evidence that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible.
Meanwhile, the heartbreaking incident touched the hearts of many residents in the community. The individuals who rescued the infant are now appealing to kind-hearted donors for baby essentials such as milk, diapers, baby wipes, and clothing, which may be directly delivered to the Makilala RHU.
The incident also drew strong condemnation from the community, with residents expressing outrage over the abandonment of an innocent child in the middle of the night. Many called for accountability and stricter action against parents who neglect or abandon their children.
Authorities are likewise encouraging anyone with information regarding the incident to coordinate with the nearest police station to help expedite the investigation and ensure justice for the abandoned infant.
