ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities have identified the lifeless body of a 34-year-old woman discovered in a boundary area between Barangays Boalan, Tala, and Lumbangan, as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.

The victim was identified as Cindy Amina Ballaho, a resident of Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City. Her identity was confirmed by her mother, who personally coordinated with authorities following the discovery of the body.
According to initial police reports, Ballaho—described as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community—was found dead in a secluded area earlier reported in Sitio Sacatal, raising alarm among local residents and prompting an immediate investigation.
The victim’s mother said the family has no knowledge of anyone who may have wanted to harm her daughter, leaving authorities without a clear suspect or motive at this stage.
However, investigators revealed that prior to the incident, Ballaho had been actively exchanging messages with her former partner. Based on accounts from the victim’s mother, some of these messages reportedly contained hints that she may have been going through a personal situation or planning to meet someone shortly before she was last seen alive.
Police are now examining these communications as part of their investigation to determine whether they are connected to the killing.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to disclose the cause of death or whether foul play has been conclusively established, but they assured the public that a thorough and impartial probe is underway.
Officials are urging anyone with information that could help shed light on the case to come forward and cooperate with law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in achieving justice.
The incident has sparked concern among residents and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as calls grow for swift accountability and strengthened protection against violence.
