MAGPET, Cotabato Province — A man was critically wounded after being shot by an unidentified assailant in a brazen daytime attack near the public market in Barangay Poblacion on Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2026.
The victim was identified by authorities as Dodo Manos, an adult resident of Barangay Pangao-an in the same municipality. Reports indicate that Manos, who reportedly owns a coconut grating mill in the area, sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to the abdomen and other parts of his body.
According to initial police accounts, the shooting occurred at around 1:30 p.m. Witnesses said the suspect, whose identity remains unknown, immediately fled the scene after the attack.
Responding residents and concerned citizens rushed to assist the victim, who was reportedly unconscious at the time. He was quickly carried and loaded into a police patrol vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Authorities from the Magpet Municipal Police Station have since launched a hot pursuit operation to track down and arrest the suspect. As of this writing, no arrests have been made.
Police investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the motive behind the shooting, including whether the incident was linked to personal, business, or other possible disputes.
The incident has raised alarm among residents, particularly as it occurred in a populated area near the town’s public market in broad daylight.
