LUPON, Davao Oriental — Authorities arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and confiscated more than 100 marijuana plants during a joint anti-drug operation conducted on the morning of April 4, 2026, in Barangay San Isidro.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Ton,” 33, was apprehended at around 8:40 a.m. in Purok Consuelo while reportedly tending to a marijuana cultivation site within his property. Law enforcement operatives seized over 100 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of ₱20,000.
The operation was spearheaded by the Lupon Municipal Police Station, in coordination with various police units, as part of intensified efforts to combat illegal drug activities in the province.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect is now under police custody and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, which penalizes the cultivation, possession, and distribution of illegal drugs.
Police officials underscored that the successful operation reflects the continued commitment of law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug-related activities at all levels, particularly targeting high-value individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Investigations are ongoing to determine possible links to larger drug networks and identify other individuals who may be involved in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana in the area.
Meanwhile, authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and actively support the government’s anti-drug campaign by reporting suspicious and illegal activities in their communities.
