BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur — A business owner was shot by still unidentified assailants inside her own store on Friday afternoon, April 10, 2026, prompting an ongoing police manhunt and investigation into the motive behind the brazen attack.

Authorities identified the victim as Janet Russel, proprietor of Jandos Agrivet Supply located in Barangay Poblacion. She was immediately rushed to Bayugan Community Hospital following the incident for emergency treatment.
According to initial reports from the Bayugan City Police Station, the shooting occurred at around 2:47 p.m. while the victim was attending to her business inside the store. One of the suspects reportedly entered the establishment and, without warning, fired at the victim twice using a .45 caliber pistol, hitting parts of her body.
After the shooting, the suspect quickly fled the scene along with accomplices, escaping bound on a red CRF motorcycle, according to witnesses.
Police have since launched hot pursuit operations and are coordinating with nearby police stations to track down the suspects. Investigators are also reviewing possible leads, including witness accounts and any available surveillance footage in the area.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, and the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown.
The Bayugan police assured the public that efforts are underway to ensure the swift identification and arrest of those responsible for the crime, which has raised concerns among local business owners over safety and security.
