PANGANTUCAN, Bukidnon — A 60-year-old sound system operator was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the early hours of Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Purok 2, Barangay Bangahan, authorities confirmed.

The victim, identified only as “Allan,” a resident of Barangay 3 in the municipality of Quezon, Bukidnon, was the owner of a mobile sound system hired by the Barangay Bangahan Council for a local disco event.

Initial police investigation revealed that the incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m., shortly after the event had concluded. Allan and his crew were in the process of packing up their equipment when he reportedly walked toward his Bongo truck.

Moments later, his companions heard three successive gunshots. Witnesses said they saw a motorcycle speeding away toward the western direction immediately after the shots were fired.

Crew members rushed to the scene and found Allan lying on the ground, already lifeless, with multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

Responding officers recovered two spent shell casings from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene, indicating the type of firearm used in the attack.

Authorities from the Pangantucan Municipal Police Station have launched a full-scale investigation to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the killing. As of this writing, no suspects have been identified, and it remains unclear whether the attack was related to the victim’s work or other personal circumstances.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as efforts continue to track down the perpetrator.

The killing adds to the growing concern over gun-related violence in parts of Mindanao, with authorities emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and community cooperation in solving such crimes.
