Maguindanao del Sur, Philippines — A man was shot dead on Monday evening in a boundary area between Barangay Sapakan in the municipality of Mamasapano and Rajah Buayan, marking the third gun attack reported in the Maguindanao provinces within just two days.

Initial police reports identified the victim only by the alias “Abdul,” described as a male of legal age and a resident of the area. Authorities said the victim died instantly after being shot by still unidentified assailants.
The fatal shooting occurred in Barangay Sapakan, a boundary village straddling the two municipalities, an area that has seen intermittent security concerns in recent years. As of this writing, investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the attack or identify the suspects involved.
The Philippine National Police unit stationed in Rajah Buayan has launched an ongoing investigation, focusing on possible leads that may shed light on whether the killing is linked to personal conflict, clan-related violence, or broader security threats.
The incident adds to growing concerns over a surge in violence in the Maguindanao area. Police confirmed that this is already the third shooting incident recorded across the Maguindanao provinces in a span of two days. This comes on the heels of a separate, brutal ambush that left five police officers dead, further heightening tensions and fears among residents.
Local authorities have yet to release additional details, but they assured the public that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. Increased security measures and coordination with other law enforcement units are also being considered to prevent further attacks.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities as investigations continue.
More details are expected to be released as the situation develops.
