MAMASAPANO, Maguindanao del Sur — A barber was killed on the spot after being gunned down along Barangay Tukanalipao at around 9:55 a.m. on Monday, November 24.
The victim was identified as Wawi Hassan Pinagayao, of legal age, married, and a resident of Barangay Libutan, Mamasapano. Pinagayao, who worked as a barber, was riding his black Kawasaki Bajaj 125 motorcycle and was en route to Barangay Tuka when he was ambushed.
According to the Mamasapano Municipal Police Station, they received a call from Barangay Chairman Kila Ko Buat reporting the shooting. Police personnel, together with elements of the 1405th FMC, RMFB 2nd MP, immediately responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found Pinagayao lifeless on the road, bearing fatal gunshot wounds—one to the head and another to the chest. Initial investigation revealed that an unidentified armed assailant had apparently lain in wait and opened fire as the victim passed by.
The suspect fled toward an unknown direction following the attack.
Investigators recovered five spent shells from the crime scene. Police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation and coordinating with nearby municipal police stations to identify and locate the gunman.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing as the investigation continues.
