GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A 25-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after being brutally beaten by at least eight individuals during a fiesta celebration late Monday night in Purok Bia-o, Barangay San Jose.

The victim, identified by authorities as alias “John Mark,” a married resident of Purok Maligaya in the same barangay, sustained head injuries and multiple bruises across his body following the assault.

According to initial investigation by the General Santos City Police Office, the victim had stepped out of a disco area to buy cigarettes when he was ambushed by a group of men. Without warning, the suspects reportedly ganged up on him, delivering successive blows before fleeing in different directions.

The victim’s mother, identified as alias “Mercy,” said her son had gone to Purok Bia-o with relatives to attend a fiesta when the incident occurred. She added that the attackers allegedly accused her son of throwing a bottle inside the disco, which may have triggered the violent assault.

Following the incident, relatives immediately attempted to bring the victim to a nearby hospital using a motorized tricycle. However, the situation worsened when the vehicle met an accident along the way, further delaying medical attention.

Responding police officers from Police Station 7 quickly intervened and transported the victim to the hospital, ensuring he received urgent medical care.

As of this writing, “John Mark” remains under treatment while doctors continue to monitor his condition.

Authorities have yet to identify and arrest the suspects, who remain at large. Police are conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the identities of the attackers and the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The General Santos City Police has urged witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward as efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice continue.
