DAVAO CITY — A 44-year-old man was arrested by police during an entrapment operation targeting illegal firearms and illegal drugs on Saturday evening, March 7, 2026, in Barangay Bago Aplaya.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Mic,” a resident of Block 9, Lot 2, Catotal Subdivision, Barangay Bago Aplaya, was apprehended at around 8:35 p.m. after authorities launched a sting operation against his alleged illegal sale of firearms.

According to the police report, operatives successfully carried out the buy-bust operation, which led to the confiscation of several pieces of evidence from the suspect.

Among the items recovered was one homemade .38 caliber revolver pistol bearing serial number 74286, which served as the buy-bust item. Authorities also seized three live .38 caliber ammunition.

Police further recovered buy-bust money consisting of one genuine ₱500 bill with serial number BC2972352, which was used by the undercover operative during the transaction. Also confiscated were seven boodle ₱1,000 bills and one boodle ₱500 bill used for the operation.

During the arrest, authorities also discovered suspected illegal drugs in the suspect’s possession. A total of four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were recovered. The confiscated drugs had an estimated weight of 1.5 grams and a standard drug price estimated at ₱10,200.

Other items seized from the suspect included a professional driver’s license, a brown sling bag, a black coin purse, and a Vivo cellular phone.

Police said the suspect is currently under the custody of authorities while the appropriate criminal charges are being prepared against him for violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities said the successful operation highlights the continuing efforts of law enforcement agencies to intensify the campaign against illegal firearms and illegal drugs in the city.

Police also urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious activities in their communities to help maintain peace and order.
