Agusan del Sur, January 10, 2026 — In a significant move toward peace and reintegration, seven former members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Brgy. Bunawan Brook, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The operation, led by the 2nd Agusan del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (ADSPMFC) with tactical support from 1st Special Action Battalion (1SAB), successfully facilitated the peaceful return of the individuals along with several firearms.

The surrender was the result of coordinated negotiations involving multiple units: 2nd ADSPMFC under PLTCOL Vici Anthony T. Tababa, 1301st Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13 led by PMAJ Michael John S. Sentinta, 14th SAC, 1st SAB PNP-SAF under PCPT Jessie Leonard R. Dy, the 3rd Special Forces Regiment Philippine Army under CPT James V. Macaso, and Bunawan Municipal Police Station led by PMAJ Ronald S. Baiño.

The former CTG members turned over one 7.62 AK-47 rifle with magazine, one M1 Enforcer Carbine with magazine, and five improvised 12-gauge shotguns with four magazines. They are now undergoing documentation and processing for possible enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to support their reintegration into mainstream society.

The surrenderers include:

  1. a.k.a. “Akel”, 28, male, a former NPA member under GF 19, NEMRC, NPSR Listed, turned over an AK-47 rifle with magazine.
  2. a.k.a. “Aba”, 30, female, NEMRC member, surrendered an M1 Carbine with magazine.
  3. a.k.a. “Larry”, 50, male, SMRC member under DGF 34, surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with magazine.
  4. a.k.a. “Jake”, 31, male, SMRC member under DGF 34, surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with magazine.
  5. a.k.a. “Lea”, 52, female, SMRC member under DGF 34, surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.
  6. a.k.a. “Honda”, 35, male, SMRC member under DGF 34, surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.
  7. a.k.a. “Lapinid”, 26, male, SMRC member under DGF 34, surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with magazine.

Authorities emphasized that the peaceful surrender underscores the commitment of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and partner agencies to counterinsurgency efforts and the promotion of peace and security in the region. The individuals are currently in custody at 2nd ADSPMFC headquarters while proper case disposition reports and procedures are conducted.

This successful operation not only removes armed individuals from insurgent activities but also provides a pathway for former members to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities.
