DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — A 30-year-old construction worker was arrested by operatives of the Digos City Police Station on Friday afternoon, January 17, 2026, after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and suspected illegal drugs during a police response operation in Barangay Zone 3.


The suspect was identified as Fernando Jemenia Alison, married, a resident of Purok Bolinao, Banggay Compound, Barangay Zone 3. He was apprehended at around 2:50 p.m. in Purok Molave, Mabini 1st, following a report of a commotion involving an armed individual in the area.
Police said responding officers swiftly contained the situation and secured the suspect, who was allegedly carrying a short firearm. Recovered from him were a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three live rounds and approximately 1.48 grams of suspected illegal drugs.
Authorities emphasized that the entire operation was documented using body-worn cameras in compliance with Supreme Court regulations. The suspect was also informed of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine in a language he fully understood.
After his arrest, Alison was taken to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital for medical examination before being turned over to the custodial facility of the Digos City Police Station for detention and proper disposition. Charges for illegal possession of a firearm and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are now being prepared against him.
OIC Chief of Police Norman L. Yparraguirre commended the responding personnel for their prompt action and coordination, stressing that the arrest reflects the police force’s firm commitment to maintaining peace and order and protecting the community from armed threats and illegal drugs.
The suspect remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
