ILIGAN CITY — Authorities confiscated more than ₱408,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested a drug suspect in a successful buy-bust operation conducted in the early hours of January 14, 2026, in Purok 8B, Barangay Santiago, Iligan City.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Reynante,” was caught in the act after selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth ₱500 to an undercover operative. Following his arrest, operatives recovered five large packets of suspected shabu, with an estimated total weight of 60 grams and an overall value of ₱408,000.
The operation was spearheaded by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) as part of the intensified campaign against illegal drugs in the city.
Police said the suspect is currently temporarily detained at Police Station 1 while formal charges are being prepared. He will be facing complaints for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities emphasized that the operation underscores the government’s relentless drive to dismantle drug networks and protect communities from the dangers of illegal narcotics.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
