TAMPAKAN, South Cotabato — What began as a late-night drinking session ended in a brutal double homicide after two men were hacked to death by their drinking companion in Barangay Pula Bato, Tampakan, in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Police identified the fatalities as alias “Teddy,” 56, a resident of Barangay Danlag, and alias “Nilo,” 68, from Davao del Sur. According to the Tampakan Municipal Police Station, the two were drinking inside the house of the suspect, alias “Dennis,” 53, a farm laborer, when a heated argument erupted amid heavy intoxication.

Investigators said tensions escalated quickly, prompting the suspect to grab a sanggot (scythe) and repeatedly hack the two victims. Both men sustained multiple severe wounds in different parts of their bodies and were declared dead at the scene by responding authorities.

The suspect was immediately arrested and is now under police custody as a full investigation is underway. Authorities are preparing the appropriate criminal charges while determining the exact motive behind the violent outburst.

Police once again warned the public of the deadly consequences of excessive alcohol consumption, stressing that many violent crimes occur when judgment is impaired by intoxication.
