A 24-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Brgy. Fort Pikit, Malidegao, Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), early Tuesday morning.
The victim was identified as Artclien Monio, married and a resident of the same barangay.
According to initial reports, Monio was driving his tricycle along 75 Street around 7:40 a.m. when an unknown gunman approached and repeatedly shot him at close range. Barangay officials and police personnel immediately responded to the area, but the victim was declared dead on arrival at a nearby medical facility due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators are reviewing possible leads and gathering statements from residents who may have witnessed the shooting.
Police urged anyone with information to come forward to help expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice. Meanwhile, the victim’s family appealed for swift action, saying they want justice for Monio’s tragic and untimely death.
The incident adds to the growing concern over gun-related violence in the SGA, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures and community vigilance.
