Community mourns the tragic loss of 20-year-old Sheila Andal
MAKILALA, COTABATO — A quiet neighborhood in Purok 2, Sta. Catalina, Barangay San Vicente was shaken on Friday afternoon, December 5, after the lifeless and decomposing body of 20-year-old student Sheila Andal was discovered inside her rented boarding house room.
According to the Makilala Municipal Police Station, a concerned citizen alerted authorities after noticing a strong foul odor coming from Sheila’s room. Responding police officers forcibly entered the space and found the young woman — who was reportedly pregnant — lying on the floor, already in an advanced state of decomposition.
Neighbors told investigators that Sheila had not been seen since December 2. They initially assumed she was resting, but as days passed and the smell intensified, they decided to check on her welfare. Their worst fears were confirmed when they discovered her remains.
Investigators are now determining whether foul play was involved. The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) have been called in to conduct a thorough forensic examination, while the Makilala PNP continues to gather testimonies and review evidence.
Authorities are expected to release additional information as the investigation progresses.
The tragic incident has left residents of San Vicente in deep sadness, especially after learning that Sheila was alone in her room at the time of her death. Her loved ones, classmates, and members of the community are now calling for clarity, justice, and proper support for her grieving family.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, loved ones, and friends of Sheila Andal during this heartbreaking time. Losing someone so young — and with a life yet to unfold — is unimaginably painful. May you find strength, comfort, and healing in the midst of this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you seek answers and justice for Sheila. May her soul, and the innocent life she carried, rest in peace.
