LAMITAN CITY, BASILAN — More than 500 employees of the Lamitan City Local Government Unit (LGU) are set to receive a ₱55,000 Christmas benefit each, following an announcement made by Mayor Roderick “Oric” Furigay ahead of the holiday season.

The initiative, confirmed by City Budget Officer Ken Calolot Bisal, aims to acknowledge the invaluable service of city government workers who keep Lamitan’s programs and day-to-day operations running smoothly.

“This Christmas, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our hardworking LGU team — they are the backbone of our city’s growth and service to the community,” Mayor Furigay said. “Every day, they go above and beyond to ensure Lamitan runs efficiently and that our residents are well cared for. This benefit is a small but meaningful way to honor their dedication and bring joy and comfort to their families during this season of giving.”

Budget Officer Bisal assured that funds for the incentive have been properly allocated in the city’s annual budget, guaranteeing a timely release before Christmas. The measure underscores the LGU’s commitment to employee welfare and its effort to foster unity and appreciation within the community.

City workers welcomed the announcement, many expressing gratitude for the administration’s recognition of their efforts—especially during a period marked by family, reflection, and celebration.

The Christmas benefit marks one of the city’s notable gestures toward strengthening morale and supporting its public servants as the year draws to a close.
