TITAY, Zamboanga Sibugay — A farmer is now facing jail time after police seized several high-powered firearms and ammunition during a court-authorized search warrant operation in Barangay Kitabog, Titay town, as authorities intensified their campaign against loose firearms in the province.



The operation was carried out at Purok Sweet Rose by operatives of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, led by Provincial Director PCol. Barnard Dannie V. Dasugo through the Provincial Intelligence Unit. The search was conducted in line with the government’s enforcement of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police implemented Search Warrant No. FC9-SW-2025-045, issued by RTC Branch 9 (Family Court) Presiding Judge Orwin Lloyd Montajes Famor, authorizing authorities to search the suspect’s residence for illegal firearms and related items.
Arrested was Allan, 46, married, a farmer, and a resident of the area. He was taken into custody after authorities allegedly found multiple firearms and ammunition inside his house.
Confiscated during the operation were an M16 rifle, an M16 plastic magazine loaded with 25 rounds of live 5.56mm ammunition, a 9mm submachine gun, an Ingram machine gun, eight live 9mm rounds, one .45 caliber magazine, and three live .45 caliber rounds.
All seized items were properly inventoried in the presence of barangay officials and media representatives, in accordance with standard police procedure. After the inventory, the suspect was brought to the Titay Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
Police officials said the arrest underscores their continuing commitment to curb the proliferation of unlicensed firearms, which they consider a serious threat to public safety and peace and order in Zamboanga Sibugay.
