CAMP KALAW, MONKAYO, DAVAO DE ORO — Seven former members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to the 25th Infantry Battalion (25IB) on November 18, marking another significant step forward in Davao de Oro’s ongoing peace and reintegration campaign.

The individuals, who had been on “lie-low” status after ceasing active participation in the insurgency, formally denounced their ties to the CTG following a series of sustained peace engagements. Officials said the successful surrender was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the 25IB, local government units of Davao de Oro, former rebels, and key peace stakeholders.

The 25IB leadership formally received the returnees at Camp Kalaw in Barangay Poblacion, expressing appreciation to the communities and LGUs whose support paved the way for their peaceful return. The unit emphasized that the province’s inclusive approach continues to prove effective in allowing former rebels to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into mainstream society.

“These efforts highlight the government’s commitment to ensuring that those who choose the path of peace are given opportunities for a safer, more stable future,” the battalion said, noting that surrendering individuals will be assisted through various programs focused on livelihood, safety, and community integration.

The provincial government, under Governor Raul Mabanglo, reaffirmed its dedication to sustaining programs that foster long-term peace and development. Authorities vowed to continue strengthening collaboration with security forces and community partners to maintain the positive trajectory of peace efforts in the region.

The 25IB said it remains steadfast in providing operational and community support to ensure Davao de Oro stays on course toward becoming a peaceful and progressive province.
