COTABATO CITY — A security guard was gunned down at his duty post on Tuesday afternoon in Bajunaid Street, Poblacion 6, Cotabato City, prompting calls for justice and a full investigation from both the victim’s family and authorities.

The victim, identified as Marcial Tumbaga Pasukong, a security guard of QNY Wholesale Retailer and resident of RH10, Malagapas, originally from Barangay Tinungkaan, Upi, Maguindanao del Norte, succumbed to gunshot wounds at a local hospital after being rushed by responding police operatives.

According to his brother-in-law, known only by the alias Ar-P, Pasukong had been seated at his post when an unidentified gunman approached him and fired multiple shots. Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots before the assailant fled the area on foot.

Police said the shooting took place shortly after personnel of the PNP and AFP concluded an operation in Mother Poblacion. As the operatives were returning to City Police Station 1, they received the distress call and immediately responded. However, their rescue efforts were delayed when several vehicles blocked the narrow roadway leading to the crime scene.

Despite efforts to revive him, Pasukong was declared dead at the hospital.

Grief-stricken relatives are appealing for justice, urging authorities to swiftly identify and apprehend the suspect. Meanwhile, the Cotabato City Police Office is reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the gunman’s identity and establish a possible motive.

Investigators continue to gather evidence as the case remains under active pursuit.
