BUTUAN CITY — Police seized an estimated ₱4.7 million worth of shabu and arrested two suspects during a search warrant operation in Barangay Villa Kananga on Saturday, a major win in the city’s intensified anti-drug campaign.

The operation, led by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) under OIC PCPT Ramon U. Atenta Jr., together with the BCMFC SWAT and BCPS 1, was conducted under the supervision of Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) Director PCOL Rommel Datuin Villamor.

Authorities confiscated approximately 700 grams of suspected shabu, valued at ₱4,760,000 based on the Standard Drug Price. Also seized were ₱2,400 worth of marijuana, a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, and several rounds of live ammunition.

Arrested during the operation were:

  • Alias “Jim,” 52, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, identified as a Street Level Individual.
  • Alias “Chris,” 42, from Barangay Agao, Butuan City, tagged as a High-Value Individual.

PCOL Villamor credited the success of the operation to the strengthened implementation of the Barangay Anti-Criminality Action Plan (BACAP) and the strong coordination between barangay officials and BCPO in intelligence gathering and crime response.

“This success reflects the solid implementation of BACAP and the continued partnership between the community and the BCPO. Community involvement plays a crucial role in combating illegal drugs and safeguarding peace in the city,” Villamor said.

The suspects are now in custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and related offenses.
