Butuan City – In line with the continuing campaign against illegal drugs, the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13) carried out a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Limaha, Butuan City, resulting in the arrest of a suspected drug peddler and the seizure of over ₱271,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
The operation, conducted on Thursday, June 19, led to the arrest of a suspect identified only by his alias “Brai,” a 32-year-old resident of the said barangay. According to PRO-13 Regional Director PBGen Christopher N. Abrahano, the suspect is listed as a Street-Level Individual (SLI) in the drug watchlist.
Police operatives were able to apprehend the suspect after he sold sachets of suspected shabu to an undercover officer posing as a buyer. Recovered during the operation were 40 grams of suspected shabu, marked money, and various drug paraphernalia. These items will be submitted as evidence in the pending court case.
A criminal complaint has been filed against the suspect for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is currently under the custody of Butuan City Police Station 2.
“This latest accomplishment highlights our efforts to protect communities and dismantle local drug networks in the region. We are intensifying our campaign with stronger operational strategies, enhanced intelligence efforts, and strengthened collaboration with the community,” PBGen Abrahano said.
