CARMEN, Surigao del Sur — In a significant move toward lasting peace, two former members of local insurgent groups have peacefully surrendered to the military in Carmen, Surigao del Sur.

Under the direct supervision of LTC Joselito B. Ante Jr., Jorelen Plaza Bautista, also known as “Hanna” and a member of Squad 2, SRSDG WL, was successfully facilitated in her neutralization and reintegration into the community.

Meanwhile, in a joint operation conducted by the 36th Infantry Battalion (IB) and 75IB under the supervision of LT Earl C. Pardillo, Eliza Elicito Monter, alias “Saila” and a former member of Pltn 1, DGF30, voluntarily surrendered at the 36IB headquarters in Brgy. Puyat, Carmen.

The peaceful return of these individuals to the fold of the law is hailed as a major victory for the local community. Military officials emphasize that such steps symbolize hope, support, and opportunities for a peaceful and productive future.

“The 36th Infantry ‘Valor’ Battalion remains committed to providing protection and genuine assistance to ensure a safe, prosperous, and peaceful life for our communities,” military spokespersons said.

With every successful surrender, the military underscores its mission: peace and security remain a shared responsibility, and a brighter future is achievable when communities and former rebels work together.
