MALIDEGAO, SGA-BARMM — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malidegao took swift action to restore peace and order after an armed clash erupted between two Moro families in Barangay Nunguan, Malidegao, Special Geographic Area (SGA), near the boundary of Pikit, North Cotabato, on November 1, 2025.
Officials from the Malidegao LGU, together with Police Captain Arman C. Baclayon, Acting Chief of Police of the Malidegao Municipal Police Station, and Municipal Councilor Abdulkarim “Sacrifice” Mangelen, personally went to the conflict area to assess the situation, speak with affected residents, and ensure immediate government response.
According to the LGU, the main objective is to normalize the situation and help displaced civilians safely return to their homes. “Our priority is to restore peace and stability in our town and ensure the safety of all residents,” the local government stated.
The Malidegao LGU also coordinated with officials from the neighboring municipality of Pikit, North Cotabato, in search of a long-term solution to the long-standing feud between the two clans.
Authorities confirmed that the encounter was between two Moro groups, sparking renewed tension in the area. Joint efforts by the Malidegao LGU, the Philippine National Police, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government are now underway to prevent further escalation.
As of press time, police visibility has been intensified, and peace dialogues are ongoing to maintain stability in the community.
The Malidegao LGU reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining peace efforts and fostering unity among its residents, emphasizing that “the government will not stop until lasting peace is achieved in Malidegao.”
