MARAWI CITY — In a heart-pounding rescue operation, personnel from the Marawi City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and barangay responders saved six children from the rising waters of the Agus River on Saturday morning.

Reports said the children were bathing in the river when the water level suddenly rose, trapping them midstream. Quick-thinking residents immediately sought help, prompting a swift response from the CDRRMO rescue team.

Braving the strong current, rescuers used ropes and flotation devices to reach the stranded children. The tense moments drew worried onlookers to the riverbank as rescuers fought the rushing waters to bring everyone to safety.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the team, all six children were safely rescued without any injuries.

Authorities reminded the public to stay vigilant and avoid swimming in rivers during unpredictable weather conditions, as sudden water surges can occur without warning.
