TALAYAN, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — Authorities arrested a 23-year-old man after he allegedly attempted to hack his own wife in Barangay Bintan, Talayan, Maguindanao del Sur.

The suspect, identified only by his alias Alantiin, is a fisherman and resident of the said barangay. According to police reports, the suspect was believed to be under the influence of illegal drugs during the attack.

The victim immediately sought help, leading to the swift arrest of the suspect by responding police personnel. Recovered from Alantiin were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 0.65 grams with an estimated street value of ₱3,000. Authorities also confiscated a sling bag, a disposable lighter, and a bolo believed to have been used in the attempted assault.

Barangay Chairman Saddam Guiamadil confirmed the incident, saying the suspect had long been reported to be using illegal drugs. “We have received multiple complaints about his behavior, especially when he is high on drugs,” Guiamadil said.

The suspect is now detained at the Talayan Municipal Police Station for further investigation. He will face charges for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and attempted parricide.
