PIKIT, NORTH COTABATO — A job order employee of the Pagalungan local government unit (LGU) was killed in broad daylight after being shot multiple times by unidentified gunmen in Sitio Malingco, Barangay Inug-ug, Pikit, North Cotabato, on Tuesday afternoon, October 29.

The victim was identified as Christopher “Toper” Malingco, a resident of Barangay Inug-ug and an employee assigned to the Local Civil Registrar Office of Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur.

According to the police report, Malingco was riding his motorcycle on his way home from work around 4:20 p.m. when he was tailed by two men on a black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle. The suspects reportedly drew their firearms and fired several shots at close range, hitting the victim in different parts of his body. Malingco died instantly at the scene.

Witnesses said the assailants sped off toward an unknown direction after the attack.

Authorities from the Pikit Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the military, immediately launched a pursuit operation to track down the suspects. Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.

The Pagalungan LGU has expressed grief over the loss of one of its workers, describing Malingco as a dedicated employee and calling for swift justice.

Police investigators continue to gather evidence and statements from witnesses to identify the gunmen and uncover the motive behind the brazen attack.


Authorities urge the public to report any information that may help in identifying the perpetrators as the investigation into the brutal killing of Christopher “Toper” Malingco continues.
