DIGOS CITY — A 33-year-old father was found dead after reportedly taking his own life by hanging from a mango tree in Purok Mangga, Upper Kiagot, Digos City, on the evening of October 14, 2025.

The victim, identified only as John (not his real name), was a father of three young children. According to residents, his family began searching for him around 2:00 p.m., and he was later found lifeless around 6:00 p.m. near a small creek at the boundary of Badiang Kibanban, Barangay Sinawilan.

Initial police investigation suggests that the victim may have been struggling with depression, which could have led to the incident. Authorities said there were no signs of foul play, though a thorough investigation is still ongoing.

Neighbors expressed sympathy for the family, noting that the victim’s wife had recently gone abroad for work, leaving him to care for their three young children.
