CARMEN, Agusan del Norte – A man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun while under the influence of liquor in District Mantata, Carmen, on October 18, 2025.

According to PCOL April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADN PPO), the Carmen Municipal Police Station received a report that the suspect was seen carrying a firearm and had fired it once, causing alarm and danger among residents.

Responding swiftly to the report, the Carmen police apprehended the suspect identified as Jovan Aninion Gonzales, 36 years old, male, jobless, and a resident of Hillside, Santa Cruz, Rosario, Agusan del Sur.

Authorities recovered from his possession one caliber .45 pistol, one magazine, and three live ammunition. Gonzales is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

In a statement, PCOL Young commended the prompt police response and the cooperation of concerned citizens, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining peace and order.
