ZAMBOANGA CITY — The lifeless body of an unidentified man was discovered tied up and bearing multiple wounds in a seaside mangrove area in Barangay Kasanyangan, Zamboanga City, on Wednesday morning, October 22, 2025.

According to reports from the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) and forensic investigators, the victim’s body was found beneath a bamboo pathway built over the water near a bamboo house. Both of his hands were bound, and he had visible bruises and deep wounds that appeared to have been intentionally inflicted.

Initial police investigation suggests the victim may have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the mangrove area to conceal the crime. Authorities suspect the case may be a “salvage” killing — a term used for extrajudicial executions.

Investigators are currently working to determine the identity of the victim, the motive behind the killing, and the suspects involved.

Residents in the area expressed alarm over the gruesome discovery, prompting calls for tighter security and increased police patrols in coastal communities.
