Malaybalay City, Bukidnon – September 29, 2025
Fifty-four former rebels (FRs) were formally awarded Safe Conduct Passes in a ceremony held at the Centennial Stage, Capitol Grounds, Malaybalay City on September 29, as part of the government’s ongoing Amnesty Program.
Of the total, nine FRs were under the custody and facilitation of the 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion (8IB) led by Lieutenant Colonel Jeorge R. Jallorina. Other recipients came from different battalions across Northern Mindanao, signaling a unified effort to support rebels who have chosen to return to mainstream society.
The Local Amnesty Board in Cagayan de Oro City issued the Safe Conduct Passes, granting legal protection to the former rebels while their amnesty applications are processed. Officials said the move demonstrates the government’s sincerity in helping those who renounce armed struggle and reintegrate into peaceful communities.
“This activity highlights the genuine efforts of our government and the Armed Forces to assist former rebels in reforming their lives and returning to the right path. It is a strong sign of unity for peace and development not only in Bukidnon but across the country,” Lt. Col. Jallorina said in his message. He also urged those still in the armed movement to surrender before the Amnesty Program concludes in March 2026.
The ceremony underscored the 8IB’s continued collaboration with various government agencies and security units to ensure that Friends Rescued who embrace peace are given new opportunities and hope for a stable future.
