Tuburan, Basilan — In a significant move to strengthen community harmony, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tuburan, led by Mayor Durie S. Kallahal, successfully mediated an amicable settlement between Mr. Junaid Amin and Ms. Samira Amin on September 15, 2025, at the Municipal Building’s Conference Hall.
The resolution brought an end to a dispute between the parties, highlighting the importance of reconciliation and prioritizing family welfare. Both Mr. Amin and Ms. Amin agreed to settle their differences peacefully, a decision welcomed as a step forward for their families and the wider community.
The settlement proceedings were witnessed by key municipal officials, including Vice Mayor Husin L. Kalang and Councilors Ping A. Kasim, Usman Kalang, and Halim B. Saharin. Their presence underscored the LGU’s dedication to fostering peace through dialogue and mediation.
Mayor Kallahal commended the willingness of both parties to embrace understanding and unity. “This settlement is a testament to the power of dialogue and compromise. By choosing peace, the Amins have set a meaningful example for all residents of Tuburan,” he said. The mayor also reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting peaceful dispute resolutions, stressing that collaborative governance is crucial in addressing conflicts at the grassroots level.
The practice of amicable settlement is particularly significant in areas where rido, or clan-related conflict, has historically strained relationships within communities. Tuburan’s proactive approach to resolving disputes peacefully reflects a broader commitment to peacebuilding and social cohesion.
Vice Mayor Kalang likewise emphasized the value of unity. “When families reconcile, the entire community grows stronger. This resolution shows that dialogue is always better than confrontation,” he said.
The successful mediation has been welcomed as a milestone for Tuburan, with residents lauding the LGU’s role in ensuring stability and progress. Many expressed optimism that similar efforts will help sustain lasting peace in the municipality.
As Tuburan continues to move forward, the peaceful resolution between the Amin family serves as a reminder that even long-standing conflicts can be resolved through empathy, compromise, and the steadfast support of a community-centered local government.
