EL SALVADOR CITY, Misamis Oriental — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned of continued rains and thunderstorms in several parts of Mindanao as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) remains active, enhanced by a Low Pressure Area (LPA) spotted off the coastal waters of San Fernando City, La Union, as of 3:00 PM Thursday.
According to PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Oriental through Friday afternoon, August 8. The rest of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate from the west to southwest, with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 1.2 meters).

Davao Region
- Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental – Partly cloudy to at times cloudy with rainshowers or thunderstorms; light to moderate west to southwest winds; slight to moderate seas. Temperatures range from 23°C to 33°C.
- Davao Oriental – Cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms; light to moderate west to southwest winds; slight to moderate seas. Temperatures from 24°C to 31°C.
SOCCSKSARGEN
- North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani – Partly cloudy to at times cloudy with rainshowers or thunderstorms; light to moderate west to southwest winds; slight to moderate coastal waters. Temperatures range from 23°C to 32°C.
Caraga Region
- Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands – Cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms; light to moderate west to southwest winds; slight to moderate seas. Temperatures range from 24°C to 34°C.
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
- Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur – Partly cloudy to at times cloudy with rainshowers or thunderstorms; light to moderate west to southwest winds; slight to moderate seas. Temperatures range from 23°C to 32°C.
Advisory
PAGASA urged residents in affected areas, particularly in low-lying and mountainous regions, to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during heavy or prolonged rainfall. Fisherfolk and small sea craft operators are advised to take precautionary measures due to moderate seas in some coastal areas.
