CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Authorities seized more than a million pesos worth of suspected shabu, along with kush and marijuana, during a drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU-10) inside a subdivision in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City.

Police identified the main target as a suspect known only by his alias “Ayok.” He was arrested along with his childhood friend, “Marix.”

Recovered from the suspects were shabu estimated at around P1 million, about P5,000 worth of kush, and P8,000 worth of locally sourced marijuana.

In his defense, Ayok claimed he was merely transporting the illegal drugs, which he said came from Manila. Marix, on the other hand, asserted that he was only paid P1,000 to deliver the items.

Authorities also learned that Ayok is unemployed and financially dependent on his father, who is currently detained at the Lumbia City Jail.

Kush, one of the items seized in the operation, is a high-grade cannabis strain originating from the Hindu Kush mountain range along Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Known for its potency, kush is typically more expensive than local marijuana and is considered a “premium” form of cannabis in the black market.

Both suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
