JASAAN, Misamis Oriental (August 4, 2025) — Authorities arrested a high-value drug suspect and seized over P3 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Jasaan town on the afternoon of August 1.

Operatives from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) collared the suspect, identified only as alias “Abet,” a 38-year-old jobless resident of Jasaan, at around 4:10 p.m. He was tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) in the region’s illegal drug watchlist.

Recovered during the operation were 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 450 grams. The confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱3,060,000.

Also seized from the suspect were a digital weighing scale, a black sling bag, and a ₱1,000 bill used as marked money for the buy-bust.

According to investigators, this is the suspect’s first recorded involvement in illegal drug activities. Initial information revealed that he sourced his supply from Iligan City and operated in Jasaan and nearby municipalities.

The suspect is currently under the custody of Jasaan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. He will face charges for violating Sections 5 (Sale) and 11 (Possession) of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police said the arrest is a major blow to local drug distribution networks and vowed to intensify anti-illegal drug operations across the province.
