KIDAPAWAN CITY – A fetus estimated to be around seven months old was discovered washed up along the creek in Barangay Balindog on Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2025.

Initial reports from some local radio stations earlier misidentified the discovery as a five-month-old baby. However, verification with residents and barangay officials confirmed that it was indeed a fetus, not a fully developed infant. A fetus refers to an unborn child that is still inside the mother’s womb and not yet carried to full term.

According to health experts, such cases may result from abortion, miscarriage, or other pregnancy complications.

Barangay Balindog Chairwoman Marites Villanueva clarified in an interview that the fetus may not have originated from their barangay but could have been carried downstream from another area. She explained that their Barangay Health Workers maintain updated records of all pregnant women and recent births within their jurisdiction, and no case of miscarriage or abortion has been reported.

The fetus has since been laid to rest. Villanueva urged parents and families to act responsibly and to protect the lives of their children, born or unborn.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as part of efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future.
