Butuan City, Agusan del Norte – A thousand Narra seedlings now stand on the slopes of Bugoy’s Peak in Barangay Bonbon, Butuan City, after a successful tree-planting activity led by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) – Caraga Satellite Office on August 8, 2025.

The initiative forms part of the PagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign, a flagship environmental program of the OVP that seeks to plant one million trees across the country. The campaign emphasizes the role of trees not only in ecological balance but also in combating the effects of climate change.
The event, held in partnership with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Nasipit, drew the active participation of OVP employees and local stakeholders. With shovels and seedlings in hand, the participants joined forces in restoring forest cover and promoting sustainable stewardship of the environment.
Narra, the country’s national tree, was chosen for its durability, cultural significance, and ability to thrive in local conditions. By planting 1,000 Narra trees, the OVP-Caraga hopes to leave a lasting legacy for the city and contribute to the nationwide target.
Beyond planting, the campaign highlights the importance of collective action. “Tree planting is not only about adding greenery, it’s about securing the future of our communities,” one participant shared. “Every tree planted today means cleaner air, reduced flooding risks, and a better climate for the next generation.”
As climate challenges intensify, initiatives like PagbaBAGo symbolize hope and resilience. With every seedling nurtured, the campaign envisions a Philippines that remains lush, green, and livable for all.
