TAGUM CITY – The City Government of Tagum and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) have formally accepted the completed Tagum Train Village Housing Project from its contractor, R2 Builders, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on July 7, 2025.
The event was attended by key officials, including DHSUD Regional Director Atty. Roberto Mauro Miguel T. Palma Gil, Tagum City Vice Mayor Atty. Eva Lorraine E. Estabillo, and the newly elected city councilors. Also present were City Administrator Edgar de Guzman, City Planning and Development Coordinator Louella May Apurada-Dumadag, and DOTr Project Evaluation Officer IV Kinly Ann A. Namuag-Torreda.
Located in Purok Abaca, Barangay Mankilam, the housing project is a significant step in providing permanent resettlement for families affected by the Mindanao Railway Project.
With the formal turnover of the project, beneficiaries are expected to begin moving into their new homes soon. The development also marks a strengthened collaboration between the national and local governments in addressing the needs of communities impacted by major infrastructure developments.
Officials expressed optimism that the project would not only provide shelter but also improve the quality of life for its recipients as the city continues to move toward inclusive and sustainable development.
