TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — The body of a newborn baby boy was discovered inside a plastic wrapper along a roadside in Purok Talisay, Barangay Magugpo West, Tagum City, at around 8 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.

Based on initial information, a concerned citizen noticed an unpleasant odor coming from a plastic wrapper left near Seminary Drive Inn. Upon checking and opening the wrapper, the individual discovered the baby’s body and immediately reported the incident to the authorities.
Personnel of Mobile Patrol 44, together with the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and the General Investigation Section of the Tagum City Police Station, responded to the scene to examine the area and conduct an initial investigation.
Police are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding the discovery, including the identity of the infant and the person or persons who may be responsible for the incident.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the baby’s condition before the discovery or whether any suspects have been identified. The circumstances surrounding the infant’s death remain under investigation.
